WomenStrong is actively looking for potential grantees that are local, women-led organizations based in urban and peri-urban areas, working on climate and environmental justice issues with a gender-responsive approach.
WomenStrong is working to create a global network of women-led organizations focused on raising awareness and building movements for climate and environmental justice. These organizations will engage women in their communities, recognizing them not only as those most affected by climate change and environmental injustice but also as key agents driving local solutions to these issues. Many of these organizations will address the intersections of gender and climate, as tackling climate and environmental justice effectively requires intersectional strategies.
Program Details
WomenStrong aims to build a cohort of women-led organizations dedicated to advancing climate and environmental justice within their communities. These organizations will mobilize women, who are both disproportionately impacted by climate breakdown and environmental harm and critical to driving local action.
Many of these partners will focus on the same areas as the current 19 WomenStrong partners, including reproductive health, girls' education, women’s economic security, and preventing violence against women and girls. These issues are not only worsened by the climate crisis, but addressing them requires intersectional approaches to climate and environmental justice.
Grantee partners will be invited to join the WomenStrong Learning Lab, a primarily virtual community where partners can share insights, learn from one another, and contribute to building the evidence base for what works to improve the lives of women and girls. The Lab also offers opportunities for capacity building and peer connection, helping partners strengthen their work and refine, test, and expand their solutions.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 30-Nov-2024.
